Kevin Harvick’s wife DeLana Harvick is the daughter of the late John Paul Linville. Linville is a former driver who had a racing career on the Busch Series. Her childhood was spent at race tracks and around cars, which fed into her knowledge of the sport. Instead of pursuing her original goal of being a teacher, she joined Jeff Gordon’s publicity team. After starting her NASCAR career with Gordon, she became a car owner and the day-to-day manager of Kevin Harvick, Inc. She specifically focuses on licensing, merchandising, and managing the employees. The couple has also founded the Kevin Harvick Foundation. The Foundation aims to assist underprivileged children in need.
Kevin Harvick’s wife DeLana Harvick first met him at a driver school, before being formally introduced at a Christmas party in 1999. They dated for a year before a Christmas, 2000 engagement. They were then married on February 28, 2001. That’s a whirlwind of a courtship. The couple’s first child, son Keelan Paul Harvick, was born on July 8. The couple embraced the 21st century technology by announcing the birth on Twitter
Kevin Harvick’s wife was brought into the limelight following an incident in 2010. Harvick got into Logano late at a race in Pocono. A then 18 year old NASCAR driver Joey Logano was quoted as saying:
It’s probably not his fault. His wife wears the fire suit in the family and tells him what to do, so it’s probably not his fault
Immediately after the comment, Delana posted to her Twitter account, “with age comes wisdom & respect… Enough said.”
Shortly thereafter a t-shirt was sold on the Harvick’s website in ladies sizes that said, “I wear the Firesuit in the Family.” All proceeds from the shirt went to the Kevin Harvick Foundation. You gotta admit, DeLana Harvick gets it. The avid Tweeter regularly posts inside glimpses to the couple’s life. DeLana Harvick does hold on WAG note we haven’t seen before: Twitter verification.
